what began as an escape from their everyday 9-to-5 office lives is
now a full fledged business for Sisters and designers, Mari ("iram")
& Malene ("inal") Davis. Started in 2007 by the self-taught
artists, the Sisters use their love and appreciation of the
beautiful indigenous women of other cultures and their belief in
fostering a more eco-friendly environment as the main inspirations
for their line of handmade jewelry.
initially inspired by their mother's bold vision and panache for fashion, the sister's vision has organically phased to having an emphasis on green design and bright, vivacious, statement-making pieces. Mari & Malene invest their energies in creating wearable, functional designs that are always big & bold, while being both fashion-forward & eco-friendly. the Sisters have a natural synergy, which is attributed to their evenly dividing their roles and responsibilities in the business. while Mari is responsible for the creative vision of the company, including choosing the season's color palettes, marketing schemes and the creation of new designs, Malene is responsible for running the day-to-day operations and steering the overall direction of the company. both sisters proudly design and personally hand make the jewelry found in their collections each season. Mari currently resides in the Sisters' home town of St. Louis, Missouri, and Malene resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband, Bryan, and adopted pets. |
